United States Air Force installs Greyter Water Systems’ water reuse technology at the Cannon Air Force Base near Clovis, New Mexico.

After a long anticipated wait, Greyter’s smart water reuse system has been installed at the US Air Force Consolidated Communications Facility near Clovis, New Mexico.  The $15 million, 42,000-square-foot facility will manage water more efficiently through the use of Greyter’s smart water technology.

Fresh water is a limited resource but is essential for Air Force operations. Thus, it has become the third pillar of the US Military’s Net Zero program, along with energy and waste. The Air Force also looks to improved water resource management in line with the Department of Defense Sustainability Performance Plan. The plan calls for a reduction in consumption of potable water from fiscal 2007 levels of 26 percent by fiscal 2020, and a reduction in consumption of industrial and irrigation water from fiscal 2010 levels of 20 percent by fiscal 2020. It also establishes a goal to maintain pre-development hydrology for development and redevelopment projects of 5,000 square feet and above.

Not surprisingly, the United States Air Force has made significant progress in cutting water consumption by taking action to detect leaks, upgrade fixtures,  recycle water and use non-potable water resources where possible. “Greyter Water Systems is excited to have our technology as part of the solution to significantly conserve potable water at the Cannon Air Force Base, ” said Mark Sales, Greyter’s CEO. The Greyter solution at the Cannon Communications Facility captures greywater from the building’s ten showers and reuses it for irrigation.
