Greyter Water Systems’ greywater solution was selected by Lakefront Condominiums in Toronto, Ontario. This highly anticipated building is the redevelopment of the former Loblaw’s head office and warehouse at Bathurst Street and Lake Shore Boulevard, which will be a full-scale retail, office, and residential complex. The restoration of this former Art-Deco brick building and addition of two residential towers (37 and 41 stories), will feature a Greyter Water System solution that treats and processes reclaimed stormwater so that it can be used for toilet flushing in many of the 840 condominium units. This system collects storm run-off from three storm cisterns. Government policies have been reshaping the City of Toronto’s growth through strengthening greener initiatives in new developments. The incorporation of a stormwater reclamation system in the renovation of a historic building portrays some of the methods that developers are offering in order to create water efficient communities. “The Greyter RHW system is an attractive solution for builders and developers looking to save water costs and reclaim incoming storm water before it is sent to the sewer,” said Chris Thompson, co-Founder of Greyter Water Systems. The Lakefront Condominiums were designed by Architects Alliance and professionally engineered by MCW Consultants Inc. This mixed use building was developed by Concord Pacific and a number of contractors contributed to the construction of the project including Lisi Mechanical.
