Colorado Springs Fire Station purchases a Greyter Water System

The $2.4 million 12,000-square-foot fire station, near Powers and Dublin boulevards, was built to handle calls in the expanding northeast Colorado Springs. Station 21 has three bays with twelve firefighters working three shifts living at the station and is the first building of its kind in the city. The facility is equipped with a Greyter Water System that collects and treats shower water so that it can be reused to irrigate a community garden.

“This building is currently scored LEED-platinum,” said architect Jim Fennell, referring to the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. “Mechanical systems, such as the Greyter System, will actually save about 60 percent of the cost of energy and water use as compared to other facilities,” he continued. “We were thrilled to offer a solution that could be incorporated into Fire Station 21’s operational budget and that will provide considerable savings in terms of water consumption for years to come”, said Mark Sales CEO of Greyter Water Systems, Inc.
