The Navy is setting out to reach the Executive Order 13514 water efficiency goal of a 26% reduction in potable water usage by the year 2020 compared to the 2007 baseline. This means that more than one billion gallons is being saved annually. The Navy is achieving this goal by implementing cost effective water management and water efficiency measures. One recent example is the purchase of a Greyter Water Systems’ solution that captures and treats rainwater so that it can be reused for flushing toilets at the Military’s Working Dog Training Facility near the Guam Naval Base. The facility will be comprised of highly skilled handlers and dogs that complete daily inspections on vehicles, buildings, and barracks.

Greyter Water Systems has also provided water management and reuse solutions to the US Army and to the US Airforce. “Addressing water conservation is very important to the US Department of Defense”, said Mark Sales, Greyter’s CEO. “We are very excited to have been selected to reduce the quantity of water being used at the Navy’s new facility in Guam,” he continued.
