Construction of the Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre (KTTC) was completed in the fall 2014 and built to LEED environmental and energy efficiency. The state-of-the-art $36.6 million, 87,000-square-foot trades and technology skills training facility was designed by the architects of Perkins + Will and professionally engineered by D.M Wills Engineering. The General Contractor was Elite Construction and numerous sub-contractors contributed to the construction including Mutual Mechanical. The KTTC provides training in areas of carpentry, welding, plumbing and machining. The facility provides the latest technology including the Skills Arena where students learn as they would on a construction site, in one central location. The Greyter System treats the storm water collected from the roof, so that it can be used to flush the facilities toilets and urinals. “As a result of the Greyter system, we anticipate considerable savings in the amount of fresh water used each year”, said Jim Metrow of Mutual Mechanical. “Working with the Greyter team in selecting and commissioning the proper system for the client was enjoyable from day one”, he continued. “We are thrilled that Greyter’s solution was selected to manage water efficiently within such an incredibly cutting edge facility”, said Mark Sales, CEO of Greyter Water Systems.
